About the NIC, I got an answer from famkruithof.net webmaster : "Originally everything ran on a Sun Sparc Classic. For power saving purposes the Sparc Classic has been replaced by a single Raspberry pi though. I kept the chip containing the NIC's mac address and kept using the mac address solely for use on my web-site."
